Does anyone on this list know of any freeware R shell apps available for
Windows?
Thanks in advance. Jeff Yana |

You could try unix2dos, Microsoft services for windows, cygwin or U/WIN I am using unix2dos and it works ok. |-----Original Message----- |From: Jeff Yana [mailto:240vac@(email surpressed)] |Sent: Friday, 13 January 2006 10:41 AM |To: void@(email surpressed) |Subject: Rsh, Rcp for Windows | |[posted to rush.general] | |Does anyone on this list know of any freeware R shell apps |available for Windows? | |Thanks in advance. | |Jeff Yana | |

Hmmm, unix2dos is a text file format converter, cygwin is overkill, not
sure what you mean by MS services for Windows, and never heard of U/WIN.
I will look into the last item. Apparently M$ inlcluded RCP in the
Resource Kit for the Server 2000 family, but never did one for XP.
Any other thoughts? Forgot to mention - SFU works on Windows 2K, XP - i.e. you don't need
a Windows Server to use it, can just install on any Windows desktop
machine.

MS Windows Services for UNIX: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserversystem/sfu/default.mspxFree (albeit bloated) download that provides a collection of unix tools (including an emulation layer etc) for Windows. Yes, SFU is pretty 'full featured'. It comes with perl, sed, awk, shells, NFS daemons, and all kinds of other stuff, and is a pretty gigantic download. Last I looked in 2004, it was: % ls -la /net/software/sfu/sfu35sel_en.exe -rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 228178504 Jul 21 2004 sfu35sel_en.exe ..200 megabooties. I've never installed from fear of its massiveness, not to mention what it /might/ do to my working and happy ActiveState Perl install. -- Greg Ercolano, erco@(email surpressed) Rush Render Queue, http://seriss.com/rush/ Tel: (Tel# suppressed) Cel: (Tel# suppressed) Fax: (Tel# suppressed) |
