We are testing maya7.0.1 here and when we submit a job rush doesn't sense when the job has complete and continues as if in batch mode.

Looking at the logs it appears that none of the options sent to the maytabatch in the temp mel file (foo.mel) are being followed. It appears that mentalray is behaving in the default way. We are able to render maya scenes fine, the problem only happens with mentalray scenes.

I read that there where mel changes in maya7.

Any ideas?

Yes; sounds like you need this mel tweak in that submit script:

In Maya 7, Alias changed some of the mel variables around for mentalray.. :/

Thanks Greg

That's got most of the mel working now.

However we have noticed that mentalrayGlobals.outputPath no longer works
when we want to specify a custom image output file path. It appears it is
still supported in Maya7 (albeit not the shortened mentalrayGlobals.outp as
in Maya6.5), yet files are still output to the standard maya images path for
us. Have you heard of this being changed in Maya 7 as well?

defaultRenderGlobals.outputPath doesn't appear to do it.

Ah, just discovered the workspace from an email here on the forum. Seems to
have done the trick. We are still using mayabatch in our scripts, may be a
time to start planning a shift over to render. Looks a lot simpler.

Yes, Maya's "Render -r [sw|mr|mi|rman..]" syntax is a lot easier to deal with.

It was introduced in Maya 6.x, which is why there's a separate submit script
called 'submit-maya6' which uses that newer syntax.

In the next release, that will become the new 'submit-maya' script, and the
current submit-maya which uses the 'maya -batch' and MEL snippets will probably
	be renamed to 'submit-maya-old'.
