Hello all,

I have one computer that renders fine from the command line, but
when I render through rush, I get the following message:

Render.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000022). Click on
OK to terminate the application.

(it's a dialog window).

If I open a command prompt & copy/paste the "Executing:" line from the
rush log, it renders fine.

This is on 32 bit Windows XP. It's one of many machines that are
(er... should be) identical. The other machines render fine via
rush. I'm render a Maya scene using either the maya software
renderer or mental ray. Maya 8.5. Everything is properly licensed
(no cracks).

Any ideas what might be going on?

Thanks,
-Brian

Title: Re: [RUSH] Render working from command line but not through rush
Sure its not a permissions issue? On the Rush Service?

What's the /complete/ log for the failed frame?

Hi Greg.

Here's what I believe to be the complete log. It's not very long, so
who knows. There is that line about the windows/maya bug, though
that link no longer exists on your site & the info I did find on the
seriss site was related to multiple users rendering at the same
time... this is a farm node - so only the farm uses it - could this
still be a problem? Why only this machine?

Thanks,
-Brian

Yes, usually 'exit 128' is a special code from Maya indicating
a license error of some kind, or so it used to be. I think they
fixed that particular problem in 6.5, so after a few years I
	took the link away.

I put it back just so that it would resolve for you now:

> --- DETECTED WINDOWS MAYA LICENSE BUG ('EXIT 128')
> --- See http://seriss.com/rush-current/rush/maya-issues.html

..though I doubt that would be the problem seen today,
unless there was a regression in maya.

I'd agree with Saker, it's likely a permission problem
between the user the Rush renders are running as, and the
Maya install directory, or related dirs such as the directory
containing maya's license file (eg. c:\flexlm\license.dat)

First, try logging into farm14 *as the user 'render'*,
and try opening up maya to see if you get similar errors.
Or, try opening a DOS window while logged in as 'render'
and try that same Render command from the executing line.

My guess is the reason it 'worked' when you logged in
before and ran the command is that you were logged in as
a different user that has permission, where the 'render'
	user does not.

Check the ACLs on the c:\flexlm directory and all files
within to make sure they're readable to 'Everyone'.

Ditto for the entire contents of the Maya install directory.

Hope that helps; let me know if it doesn't.
My guess is that somehow the install of Maya on that machine
was done differently from the others, such that the perms
were somehow applied differently during the install.
